Julius "Chuck" C. Kondrat, 78, of Salem, NH passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 in the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA. He was born in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Julius Kondrat and Anna (Unick) Currier.
Chuck proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He worked for Gillette in Andover, MA, retiring following a 35 year career. Chuck was an avid traveler and his journeys took him throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. He loved going to casinos and gambling. Chuck also enjoyed all Boston sports teams and was known to have had a wager or two on a Sunday afternoon during football season. He was a member of the Sargent Improvement Club in Methuen as well as the Arlington Athletic Social Club. Most of all he loved his family and attending family events.
He is survived by his children; Kenneth Kondrat of Derry, NH, Kim Kondrat of Dracut, MA and Kevin Kondrat and his wife Dana of Methuen, his step-children; Monica Bernardo, Brenda Rutherford and Neil Schiebel. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Kenneth Kondrat II of Okinawa, Japan, Matthew Kondrat of Derry, Samantha and Alexia Surprenant, both of Dracut and Jared Kondrat of N. Andover, MA, his grandson-in-law; Andrew Della Pelle of Derry, by three great-grandchildren, by his step-grandchildren; Kayla Regan and Anna Carroll and by his siblings; Priscilla Becotte of Methuen, Edward Currier of Florida and Raymond Currier of Methuen and by his companion; Judy Plonowski of Hampstead, NH. He was predeceased by his wife; Theresa M. (Bellemore) Kondrat in 2015, by his daughter in law; Kelley A. (Carroll) Kondrat in 2019 and by his granddaughter; Ashley (Kondrat) Della Pelle earlier this year.
Following cremation visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home Wednesday at 12:00pm, military honors will follow. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to CARING FOR A CURE and mail to: Mass General Hospital Development Office, Attn: Caring For A Cure, 125 Nashua Street, Boston MA 02114.
