June C. Skalla, 89, of Salem, NH, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on May 8, 2025.

Raised in Weymouth and Quincy, Massachusetts, June later moved to Salem, New Hampshire, where she and her beloved husband, Paul "Nick" Skalla, built a warm and loving home and raised their family. A dedicated homemaker, June found joy in caring for her family and creating a welcoming space for all who entered her home. In her earlier years, she was an active volunteer with the Salem NH VFW and the Franz Acres Association, where she gave her time generously and built lasting friendships. Later in life, June was blessed to find love again with Rick Husted. Their time together brought her great happiness, companionship, and comfort. Rick held a special place in her heart, and their bond was deeply cherished.

June is survived by her loving children, Rachel Kingston and Thomas Skalla and his wife Chieva. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Kellie Waters and her husband Joshua, Jamie Flanagan, Danielle Press, Meaghan Skalla, Shannon Skalla, and Matthew Skalla. Her legacy continues through her four great-grandchildren: Jack and Connor Waters, Adeline Patry, Charlotte and Mason Skalla. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Barbara Gardner of St. Louis, MO, and Sally Furtado of Derry, NH, along with many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.

June was predeceased by her first husband Nick, her second husband Rick Husted, her parents Francisco and Rose Furtado, her brother Walter Furtado, and her sister Marie Pizzulli.

June will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering love for her family, and her quiet strength. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:30 AM  followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
