Justine M. Bennett, 81, a longtime resident of Salem, NH passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Salemhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem. She was born in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of the late Justin E. and Theresa E. (Merchant) McCarthy.

Mrs. Bennett grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1953. She worked as a Section Chief Manager for the IRS in Andover, MA for many years prior to her retirement in 1998. She was an avid New England sports teams fan and movie lover. Mrs. Bennett was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Salem; her real and abiding passion was her family, grandchildren and close circle of friends.

She is survived by her son; Richard J. Bennett and his fiancé Jeanna Getchell of Windham, NH, her daughter in law; Kristin Bennett of Exeter, NH, her daughter; Mary Rae Peterson of Salem, by four grandchildren; Raymond and Patrick Neenan, Elizabeth Bennett and John Bennett, Jr., a sister in law; Loretta McCarthy of Jupiter, FL, her sister; Marilyn Witzgall and her husband Warren of Chatham, MA. She was predeceased by her husband; Raymond Bennett, her son; John M. Bennett and by her brother; Jack McCarthy.

Following cremation a graveside service will take place at 12:30pm on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Greenlawn Cemetery, 57 Orne St., Salem, MA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
