Ken S.
Silverman
d. Mar 28, 2022
Salem
Kenneth S. Silverman, 93, a longtime resident of Salem, NH, passed away on Monday, March 28, th 2022, after a short period of declining health. He was two weeks shy of his 94 th birthday.
Ken grew up and was educated in Lawrence, MA, the son of the late Sarah "Sally" (Cornez) and Edward E. Silverman. He graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1945. Shortly after opening his business in 1949, he was called to serve in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Ken moved to Salem in 1959 with his wife, Barbara, and lived in the same house until three weeks ago. As the owner and operator of Ken's TV in Methuen for nearly fifty years, Ken formed long-lasting bonds around the Merrimack Valley and would always put "extra cartoons" into the TVs of his youngest customers. He lived by the Golden Rule, and his generosity knew no end.
He was a life member of the Derry-Salem Elks Lodge #2226 and the Salem VFW Post #8546. Ken was an avid Patriots and RedSox fan. He enjoyed playing pool and bowling, participating in local leagues. He and his late wife both had remarkable green thumbs and a passion for gardening, turning their backyard into a showplace he proudly referred to as his "Shangri-La." Kenny loved his daily visits to Maddie's, and the staff became his second family. Known for his "Kenny Stories," Ken had a wonderful, long life and was very well loved.
Ken will be deeply missed by his daughters, Lisa Morris and husband Andre of Salem, NH, Cathy Silverman of Haiku, HI, and Faith Johnson, whom he loved like his "oldest daughter," of Salem, NH; his loving sister, Lorraine "Sissy" Nicholson of Sharon, MA; his good friends and guardian angels, Bob and Annette Maguire, and Phil Trachier, all of Salem; many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandkitties and countless friends whom he treasured.
He was predeceased by his beloved and devoted wife, Barbara (Garrett) Silverman, in 2012.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Salemhaven Nursing Facility for their care and compassion throughout these past difficult weeks.
Visitation will be Monday, April 4th, from 2:30 – 6:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Military honors will be at 3:00 PM. There is no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ken's name may be sent to Salem Animal Rescue League, 4 Sarl Dr. Salem, NH 03079 to honor his love of all animals, particularly his "puppy dogs.". To send a message of condolence to the family, please view the obituary at www.douglasandjohnson.com
