Lawrence "Larry" J. Connearney, 88, a 54 year resident of Salem, NH, formerly of Cambridge, MA passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cambridge, a son of the late Lawrence and Helen (Garnett) Connearney.
Larry spent his career in construction as a Union Carpenter with Local #339. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, playing cards and playing pool. He was a member of the Pelham Fish & Game Club and was a life member of the NRA. Larry's biggest enjoyment and accomplishment was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years; Joan B. (Hawksley) Connearney of Salem, by his three daughters; Patricia Soucie and her husband Clayton of Dracut, MA, Jo-Ann Sline and her husband Joseph of Auburn, NH and Deborah Sarkis and her husband Henry of Methuen, MA. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Lynette and her husband Joseph, Janelle, Justin, Kevin, Derek and Zach. He is also survived by his five great-grandchildren; Madeline, Lilly, Isabelle, Abigail and Caroline, by two brothers; Robert and John Connearney and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son; Kevin Connearney in 2005 and by his two brothers; Francis Connearney and Michael Roche.
Due to the current covid-19 pandemic, the visiting hours will be private for the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 8, 2021 at 12:00pm in Mary Queen of Peace, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem. Please meet at church by 11:45am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem. Masks are required and social distancing must be followed per CDC guidelines. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Mass General Hospital Cancer Center, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114 or https://giving.massgeneral.org/donate in memory of Larry .
