Obituary

Les Miller, 73 of Salem, NH passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 in the Spaulding Hospital, Cambridge, MA. Les was born Leslie J. Miller in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Roscoe J. and Virginia E. (Huffman) Miller.

Les proudly served his country in the US Navy with distinction in two foreign conflicts. He loved motorcycles and cars and was an absolute master in building engines. During his life he restored at least 20 cars and in 1988 he won the Nostalgia Nationals at the New England Drag way with his 1941 Plymouth. Les founded Trikes Northeast, where he built 238 conversions over 10 years and built from scratch at least 3 motorcycle trikes. He also worked for the phone company for 19 years, and was a master wirer, his work showing up in the AT&T company manual as reference pictures. His last installed work was the ATCT at Shaw AFB. Les served for 10 years on the Zoning Board of Adjustment in Salem, enjoyed drawing, painting with acrylics and truly loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Carol A. Miller of Salem, his son; Ross Miller and his wife Mary Doyle Miller of Medford, MA, his grandchildren; Gracie and Ethan Miller, both of Medford and his first cousins; Ray Miller and John Weddington, both of Charleston, WV and Paula Mann of Greenville, WV. He was predeceased by his son; Daniel J. Miller in 1982 and by his brother; Charles "Sonny" E. Miller.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem with a Masonic Service to be held at 7:45pm. A funeral from the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home will be 9:30am Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30am in Mary Queen of Peace, Salem. Military honors will follow. A private interment service will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem at a later date.
