Lois I. (Caron) Demaree, 86, a resident of Salem, NH for 85 years passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home, Fremont, NH. She was born in Methuen, MA, a daughter of the late Raoul "Red" and Irene (Beaumont) Caron.
She was educated in Salem schools and also attended MacIntosh Business School in Lawrence, MA and Northern Essex Community College, Haverhill, MA. Mrs. Demaree had worked in the office of the former Bolta Division of The General Tire and Rubber Co., Inc in Lawrence for 22 years and later at the IRS in Andover, MA until her retirement in 1993.
She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, The Andover Service Center Retirees Association, The Greater Salem Artists Association and the Greater Haverhill Arts Association. She was a volunteer at Salemhaven Nursing Home and loved antiques, auctions and art. Mrs. Demaree was a communicant and very active member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem and had served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots.
She is survived by her brother; Daniel R. Caron and his wife Karen of Derry, NH, her sister, Pauline E. Dahood of Salem and by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; George Demaree in 1973 and by her brother; Roy L. Caron in 1985.
There are no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30am Tuesday March 20, 2018 in Mary Queen of Peace, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem. Please meet at church by 10:15am. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem. Memorials may be directed to Mary Queen of Peace, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem, NH 03079.
