Lorraine (Ford) DeMan, 67, of Rutherford, NJ passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2025 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.
Lorraine grew up in Salem, NH and she graduated from Salem High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Emerson College in Boston, MA. She was a beloved educator at St Michael's School in Cranford, NJ, St Paul of the Cross School in Jersey City, and St John School in Jersey City.
For over 40 years, Lorraine inspired generations of students with her passion for learning, her kindness and her ability to make every student feel valued. Her teaching was more than a profession; it was a calling that left an indelible mark on the lives of those she taught.
Beyond the classroom, Lorraine was a gifted singer and actress whose talent shone brightly on stage. She starred in numerous leading roles in local theatre productions. Her crowning achievement was performing on Broadway alongside the legendary Kenny Rogers, a testament to her extraordinary talent and dedication to the performing arts. Whether on stage or in the choir at St. Mary Church, Lorraine's voice was a gift that uplifted all who heard it.
Lorraine's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a deeply active member of St. Mary Church, where she contributed her time, talents and love to the community. Lorraine embodied the spirit of service and devotion.
Lorraine will be deeply missed by her husband of 39 years, Gerard DeMan; her 2 children, Mary DeMan and husband Michael Sanducci of Chicago, IL and John DeMan of Rutherford, NJ; her 4 siblings, Fred Ford and wife Dorothy of Bellport, NY, Thomas Ford of Manchester, NH, Jeanne Lugli and husband William of Methuen, MA and Alison Ford of Manchester, NH; her sisters-in-law, Sharon DeMan and Anna Maria DeMan and nieces and nephews, Sean, Keith, Robert and Lila Ford, Evan Lugli and Michael and Robert DeMan. She was predeceased by her parents, Joan and Gerard Ford; her brother-in-law, Michael DeMan and her niece Patricia DeMan.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, NH. Visitation will also be held at St. Mary Church, 91 Home Avenue , Rutherford , NJ on Sunday, Sept. 7th from 3pm - 5pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 5 PM . Interment will be private on Monday, September 8th
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine's name may be sent to St. Michael School, 100 Alden St., Cranford, NJ.
