Lorraine F. Fernandez, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. She lived most of her life in Salem, New Hampshire, but spent the last two years living in Pittsboro, North Carolina with her son and daughter-in-law.

Lorraine will be remembered for her extraordinary kindness and her willingness to help those in need. She was a natural-born counselor with a remarkable ability to encourage and uplift those around her. She was a longtime volunteer at Greater Salem Caregivers and a trusted friend to many people.

She is survived by her son, John Fernandez and his wife, Michelle April; granddaughter, Alexis Fernandez; grandson, Luke Fernandez; brother, Michael Chadwick and his wife, Helene; brother, Paul Chadwick; and brother, James Chadwick. She is predeceased by her father, James Chadwick; mother, Amelia Chadwick; sister, Paula Datri; brother, George Chadwick; and brother, Kevin Chadwick.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 am at Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, New Hampshire. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to Greater Salem Caregivers in Salem, New Hampshire.
