Obituary

Margaret “Peggy” Najarian, 92, of Salem, NH, passed away at home on Thursday, June 25, 2026 – just shy of her 93rd birthday on July 8, 2026.

Peggy, was often described by her husband, Hrair Najarian, as “one of a kind”. She was born and raised in Middleboro, MA, where she lived next door to her first cousins with whom she was very close. She received her education in Middleboro. After moving to Salem, NH and getting married, she worked in the office at Pacific Paper in Lawrence, MA until she decided to be a full-time homemaker.

Peggy was true to her beliefs and staunchly devoted to her husband and family. She centered her life on family; she was strong and unwavering in her commitment as a wife, mother and friend. She was a perfectionist and determined; these values were evident in all that she did. Peggy was a talented Armenian cook who often expressed her love through food. Family and friends were always excited and grateful to enjoy her homemade paklava and choereg. Peggy also enjoyed politics, sports, and reading, and in later years, traveling with her husband, daughters and grandchildren.

Peggy was an exceptionally tender “Grammy”; she helped to raise her grandsons. She deeply loved her grandsons, and they her – always and forever.

Peggy was a longtime member of First Church Congregational, Methuen, MA; her faith provided her with comfort throughout her life.

Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Hrair Najarian; her three siblings, Ardavast Kayajan, Jr., George Kayajan, and Bertha “Bunny” Kayajan.

Peggy is already missed by her daughters, Cheryl Najarian and partner, Janet Tassone of Pelham, NH; Donna Najarian of Newton, MA and partner Lynette Molnar; Lisa Najarian and husband Louis Brady of Pelham, NH; Carol Najarian and husband William Paggioli of Salem, NH; and her cherished grandsons, Zachary George Najarian-Najafi and Alexander Hrair Najarian-Najafi. Peggy’s legacy is embodied in the love that now lives on through her family.

A funeral service will be held on July 8, 2026 at 11:00AM at First Church Congregational, 26 Pleasant St, Methuen, MA 01844. Please arrive by 10:45AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.

Arrangements are under the care of Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Peggy’s name may be made to First Church Congregational, 26 Pleasant St, Methuen, MA 01844 or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
