Maria Teresa
Raposo
d. May 22, 2026
Maria Teresa Raposo, 68, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a short battle with cancer. Born in São Miguel, Azores, she immigrated to the United States in 1973, where she built a life filled with love, adventure, and joy. She was the cherished daughter of the late Joao and Maria Raposa.
Teresa graduated from high school and embraced her new home in America with an open heart. She was a mechanical assembler at Parker Chomerics in Woburn for 33 years until her retirement. She found great happiness in the simple and beautiful things in life. An avid reader and passionate traveler, she loved exploring new places. She enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, and especially cherished days spent fishing with her family or relaxing at the beach. A true animal lover, Teresa had a big heart for animals and "adopted" other people's pets. She was known as a master of Pictionary and brought laughter and fun to countless family game nights.
Above all, Teresa was a loving soul whose warmth touched everyone around her. Children, babies, and animals naturally gravitated toward her gentle and caring spirit. She treasured spending time with her family more than anything and created memories that will be held dear forever.
Her niece wrote:
Not all love is loud. Some love is found in a quiet presence, a gentle heart and the comfort of simply being there- that was her gift. Though reserved by nature, she brought warmth and steadiness to those who loved her. Even through life's hardest moments, she showed incredible strength and resilience. The thought of a world without her feels impossible, as her presence meant so much to many. While our hearts are shattered by this loss, we find comfort in the memories she gave us, the laughter we shared and the love she leaves behind. She will be missed beyond words and remembered with endless love every single day.
Teresa is survived by her siblings:
• Brother, Antonio Raposo and his wife Carmen of Boynton Beach, FL
• Brother, Helder Raposo and his wife Eulalia of Palm Coast, FL
• Sister, Adelia Hunter and her husband Cory of Salem, NH
She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews:
• Kimberly Raposo and her partner Kai of Haverhill, MA
• Helder Raposo and his wife Nichole of Londonderry, NH
• Nicole Perron and her husband Bill of Pelham, NH
Teresa will also be deeply missed by many cousins across the globe who loved her dearly.
Her family takes comfort knowing that Teresa's kind heart, infectious laughter, and loving presence will live on in all those whose lives she touched. She will be remembered not just for the places she went or the games she won, but for the love she gave so freely.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, NH. The Funeral Service will be Friday, May 29th at 11:00 AM in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
