Marie Claire Reed, age 93, passed away peacefully following a recent illness at Merrimack Health Methuen the former Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA on January 29, 2026.

She was born and raised in Lawrence, MA but spent most of her life in Salem, NH, where she built a home filled with family, independence, and quiet strength.

She devoted the majority of her professional career to the Internal Revenue Service, where her natural organization, integrity, and sharp mind made her exceptionally well suited to her job. She took great pride in managing her finances and staying organized — traits that remained with her throughout her life.

Marie Claire was an avid reader and lifelong learner who always had a book nearby. She enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including time spent in Florida as a snowbird for more than twenty years and bowling in a league well into her mid-eighties.

She was especially proud of living independently in her own home for nearly all of her 93 years, a testament to her resilience and determination.

Marie Claire was the beloved mother of Donald Buja, Joanne Ronsivalli, and Patricia Jacobellis. She was a proud grandmother to Erin Cianciolo, Sarah Rainey, Thomas Buja, Amanda Kabaker, Dominic Jacobellis, and Abby Sturmer, and a loving great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

She will be remembered for her strength, independence, intelligence, and the steady, loving presence she provided to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the example she set through a life well lived.

A celebration of her life will be held in the summer of 2026, when warmer weather allows family and friends to travel safely and gather together. The date will be announced at a later time.
