Mary
Kutny
d. Aug 13, 2025
Salem
Mary (Sheehan) Kutny of Salem, NH, passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 13, 2025 at the age of 82. Mary was the heart and soul of our family, more than anything she loved being a Mother and Grandmother. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, an unending generosity, and a welcoming heart. She was anchored by a deep faith and dynamic devotion to God.
Mary was married to her beloved husband Steve Kutny (1941 - 2022) for 48 years and raised four children Mary Ann Kutny of Silver Spring, MD, Peter (and Carrie) Kutny of Ellsworth, ME, Katie (and Justin) Pritchard of Wakefield, MA, and Lizzie (and Brian) Farnell of Denver, CO. She adored and was loved fiercely by her five grandchildren Ellie, Brendan and Norah Pritchard, and Bridget and Erin Kutny. She was predeceased by her parents Denis and Bridget Sheehan of Boston, MA, and her brothers Maurice (Sonny), Johnny, Dennis and Brendan. She deeply loved her Sister-in-law Ann Vey and her nieces and nephews. She also shared a deep bond with her chosen family Kathy and Bill Corley and their children.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a welcoming home full of love and laughter. She loved the beach, coffee frappes and rocking her babies and grandbabies. Mary loved a laugh and cherished sharing one with friends and family over a cup of tea. Mary's stamina for an after-Mass chat or a catch-up in the aisle at Market Basket was unparalleled. Her life was full of jobs and the most meaningful allowed her to listen to and help children. She believed in the promise of every child and did her best to help them discover it, always accompanied by a lollipop and a hug. Her loving kindness, warm hugs, beautiful smile and joyful spirit will never be forgotten by those who knew her.
Mary's long and loving life will be celebrated on August 16, 2025 at 9:30 AM with a Memorial Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd. in Salem, NH. Visiting hours are from 5 – 7 pm on August 15 2025, at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. in Salem, NH. The family welcomes donations to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem, 3 Geremonty Dr, Salem, NH 03079, as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
