Obituary

Maureen Mason,79, of Salem, NH, passed away April 14th, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to her family, her students, and the many lives she touched throughout the years.

Maureen grew up in Salem, where she graduated from Woodbury High School. She went on to pursue her passion for education at the University of New Hampshire, earning her bachelor's degree in education in 1968. Maureen dedicated herself to teaching in the local school district, where she was known for her patience, kindness, and commitment to her students.

Later in life, Maureen embraced her role as a homemaker while raising her beloved sons, creating a warm and nurturing home. She also worked alongside her husband in his law office, offering her support and steady presence.

Maureen found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved painting, reading, sewing, and spending time playing cards with friends. She especially cherished her winters in Florida, where she enjoyed the sunshine and relaxation.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, William Mason; her son, Brian Mason and wife Lyn of Saugus, MA; her sister, Sheila Carney of Port Canaveral, FL; and her cherished grandchildren, Shea Mason and Sara Mason. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Josephine and Eugene Carney and her son, David Mason.

Maureen will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to her family, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Calling hours will be Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon followed by a funeral at 12 noon at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Maureen's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
