Michael "Mike" J. Palermo, Jr., 77 a longtime resident of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Holy Family Hospital, Haverhill, MA.  He was born in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Michael J. and Elvira H. (Canalette) Palermo.

Mike was a music lover and in his younger days played guitar in the local band "The Archives."  He enjoyed teaching those who wanted to learn how to play the guitar.  He worked for Raytheon for 39 years, many of those years spent in the Andover, MA branch.  Mike and his wife Darleen were members of The Compass Riders, a couples motorcycle group based in Billerica, MA and were on its board of directors.  They enjoyed going on its many charity rides.  They also enjoyed their times going on many cruises over the years.  Mike coached his sons in sports, specifically baseball, though he enjoyed playing softball, golf and bowling as well.  He was "the neighborhood Dad."  Mike was a collector of many things that interested him, was an avid reader and loved his Doberman dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years; Darleen Palermo of Salem, by his three sons; William Michael Palermo and his wife Cindy of Salem, Robert Steven Palermo and his wife Tina of Dorchester, NH and Marc Daniel Palermo and his wife Nicole of Sandown, NH.  He is also survived by his grandchildren; Dominic William Palermo, Gabriella Marie Palermo, Anthony Michael Palermo, Ryder James Palermo, Maverick David Palermo and Raven Willa Palermo and by a cousin; Anne Parkhurst of Lawrence, MA.  He was predeceased by his brother; Richard Palermo.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the scholarship established in his name at Salem Dollars for Scholars, PO Box 297, Salem, NH 03079.  Please include that the donation is in memory of "Michael J. Palermo, Jr.".
