Michael P. Kalil, 68, of Salem, NH passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his family at Lawrence General Hospital on Monday, March 4, 2024.
Born on March 4, 1956, Michael was a lifelong resident of Salem, NH and a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1974. He was the son of the late Philip M. and Doris R. Kalil.
Michael is survived by his devoted life partner, Pamela Charoux; his brother, Ronald Kalil and wife, Robin of Salem; son Michael and wife Amy; grandsons, Xander and Max; his nieces and nephews, Philip, Jeni-Lyn, Aaron, and Haley, whom he truly loved and treated like his own. His great nieces and nephews, Callie, Avery, Camryn, Andrew, Joey, Brinley and Brody, will also miss him dearly.
Michael, also known as "Uncle Mike" or "UM", was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a mentor, loyal friend, and a father figure to many. He was generous, kind-hearted, and truly saw the good in everyone. Michael owned and operated Rockingham Trading Post in Plaistow and Salem, NH for over 30 years. He was also a successful business entrepreneur, real estate investor and auto wholesaler.
He was an avid sports fan, and had a real passion for horse racing, which began in his early years at Rockingham Park and Suffolk Downs. He most recently continued his love of horse racing at Gulfstream Park, FL and Santa Anita, CA. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Lawrence General Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion during this difficult time.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday March 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home. The burial will follow at the United Lebanese Cemetery, 50 Corbett Road, Lawrence, MA. 01843.
In lieu of flowers, although welcome, memorial contributions can be made in Mike's name to the Salem Boys & Girls Club, 3 Geremonty Dr Salem, NH 03079.
