Michael F. McCarthy, 67, of Dorchester, MA passed away Monday, December 24 ^th at his home.

He was born at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton, MA and raised in Cambridge, MA, the son of the late Mary E. (Feeney) and Francis T. McCarthy. Michael graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School with honors and a scholarship to UMASS Amherst. He worked as a manufacturing engineer for Cambion, Avid Technologies and Nortel Networks Co. Michael enjoyed all things Boston, especially their sports' teams and never missed a chance to watch a Celtics game.

He is survived by his 2 children whom he loved very much, Michael McCarthy and wife Dawn Marie and Kristen Portillo and husband Jonathan, all of Salem, NH; his 4 siblings, Timothy, Robert, Cathy and John McCarthy; his 6 grandchildren who renewed his faith in all that is good in the world, Vincent and Salvatore McCarthy and Alan, Jacob, Hannah and Jonathan Portillo and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 28 ^th from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. The Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:30 AM at All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Ave. Haverhill, MA. Burial will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA.
