Obituary

Mildred L. Quintal, 91 of Derry, NH passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. She died on her own terms, with great grace and dignity. She was born in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Loretta (Argy) Pawlisheck.

Mrs. Quintal graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1941. Following high school she went to work in the Lawrence Mills. She left an office job in the Mills during WWII to support the war effort by packing gas masks after the young man she would later marry was sent to war. Upon his return from the war she married Rene J. Quintal on May 18, 1946 and they drove to Montreal for their honeymoon. Together they had and raised seven children, as family was very important to her. Mrs. Quintal did volunteer work for the Suicide Prevention Hotline and had worked part time for Macy's. She loved the ocean and the beach, spending as much time in Cape Cod and Maui as she could. She was also a prominent member of the Catholic Daughters for many years. Mrs. Quintal was a very social woman who had many friends who will miss her dearly.

She is survived by seven children; Patricia Castricone of Salem, James Quintal of Morrison, CO, Janice Quintal and her husband Paul Clyons of Campton, NH, Carl Quintal and his wife Stephanie of Sharon, MA, Lillian Quintal of Franklin, NH, Joseph Quintal of Manchester, NH and Milly Quintal of Ventnor, NJ. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a great-great grandson and by her brother; Richard Pawlisheck of Woonsocket, RI. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years; Rene J. Quintal in 2015 and by her grandson; Kevin Sicard in 2015.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, August 21, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Tuesday in St. Joseph Church, 40 Main St., Salem. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the National Shrine of St. Jude Claretian Missionaries, 205 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606.
