Nancy Swank, age 83, passed away January 5, 2020 due to a long lung illness and congestive heart failure. She was born April 24, 1936 in Farmington, Maine to Elliott and Clarice (Watson) Hodgkins.

She graduated from Kennebunk High School in Maine, attended Keene Teachers College in NH for 2 years and she went on to receive a degree in NY at Manhattan Merchandising and Designer Institute. She did her apprenticeship at Filene's in Boston and Lord and Taylor in NY. She subsequently worked in G Fox in Hartford. In 1961, she married local artist Bill Swank. Nancy, in her own right, was also an artist who for many years was a member of the Greater Salem Art Association.

She was a very active church member at North Salem Methodist Church. She worked at The Salem Observer for several years, at the Suburban Real Estate Newspaper and her last years of employment were spent at the Salem Chamber of Commerce. She loved her role as Nanny and she was a dedicated mother and Nanny foremost. She shared her love of family with whom she had just enjoyed Christmas. It was a family tradition to have her family around her at every occasion.

Nancy will be sadly missed by her three children Suzanne McEvoy of Utah, Steven Swank of Windham and Sally Younker of North Salem; her brother John Hodgkins of Yarmouth, Maine, and her sister Patricia Hodgkins of Salem. She was devoted to her 8 grandchildren all of whom she loved and touched deeply, Calvin McEvoy and wife Rebecca, Cameron McEvoy, Mia McEvoy and boyfriend, Shawn Hayward, Robert Younker and girlfriend, Sam LaPointe, Alexis Younker, Maxwell, Miles, and Miller Swank; by her great- grandson, Noah McEvoy and many nieces and nephews. Her cherished dog Nipa will miss her greatly.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill Swank and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hodgkins.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 10 ^th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem NH. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 11 ^th at 10:30am at North Salem United Methodist Church, 389 North Main St., Salem, NH. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nancy's name may be made to North Salem United Methodist Church, 389 North Main St. Salem, NH 03079.
