Obituary

Olga A. (Gielazauskas) Boland, age 98, of Salem, NH, died Monday at the High Pointe House, Haverhill, MA. She was born in Salem, NH where she grew up, attended school, and graduated from Woodbury High School in 1943. She went on to Nursing School at St. Joseph's Hospital School where she graduated as a registered nurse in September 1949. She lived as a resident of Salem her entire life.

Olga worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital and at Bon Secours/Holy Family Hospital for over 40 years. She also worked as a private nurse and volunteer nurse to support the community.

Olga was an active member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem supporting the church in many roles. She was also an active volunteer in Salem at the Salem Senior Center where she taught craft classes and supported Meals on Wheels. Olga was active in the Parent Teacher's Association (PTA) and the Women's Association of Salem Policemen's Wives.

Olga was predeceased by a daughter Arlene Boland and her husband of 57 years Donald M. Boland.

She is survived by:

Daughter: Patricia O'Brien of Shrewsbury, MA

Son: Capt. Donald J. Boland (USN) (Ret) & his wife Dorothy of Jacksonville, FL

6 Grandchildren: D.J. & his wife Kelly Boland of Jacksonville, FL, Michael O'Brien of Shrewsbury, MA, Commander Adam and his wife Rebecca Boland (USN) of Norfolk, VA, Andrew O'Brien of Salem, NH, Commander Brian and his wife Rachel Boland (USN) currently assigned in Bahrain, & Colleen (O'Brien) Reese and her husband Dave of Bear, DE.

Calling hours will be Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 AM – 12 noon  at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH.  The burial is private for the family.
