Patricia Blodgett, 84, of Worcester MA passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Patricia Marsland was born in Lawrence MA, graduated from Methuen High School, and married Bill Blodgett in 1965. Over the years she worked at Raytheon and GOAL/QPC and raised a family in Salem NH.  One of her favorite volunteer roles was the solo night shift with the rescue cats at the Salem Animal Rescue League, letting each kitty purr-ambulate in turn while their boxes were cleaned. A creative and generous soul with a flair for thinking outside the box, Pat turned pennies around town into contribution dollars, crafted an adult size Taffy the Cat costume, set up library displays, and spearheaded the 2008 Seeking Shelter SARL publication of stories, essays, and original artwork and poetry. Friends noted her love of reading, learning, writing, and exquisite baking.

Patricia enjoyed taking the train to NYC to see a show, admiring the sheep from the window of the Biltmore, and sharing kielbasa with friends at Tanglewood.  She loved Luciano Pavarotti, coffee and Danish with a friend, trips to the Great Southwest with family, and road trips up the Maine and New Hampshire coast.  A stop at Dunkin Donuts for a small hot black and a plain donut was a great start to her day. Sunflowers at Elm Bank, spectacular displays at the Philadelphia Flower Show, and updates from her children and grandchildren put a smile on her face. Pat looked forward to baking chocolate chip cookies with her grandkids and supplying Moxie to her son in the south. Filling a Christmas box with presents for a less fortunate family brought joy, as did making each family member write and recite bunny limericks at Easter.  In her later years, reading at least one book a day, chasing auroras with her daughter, completing puzzles, and voicing disgust at the orange turd took up her time.  Pat left behind a collection of poetry that tugs at your heartstrings.

She is survived by her children and their spouses:  April Blodgett and Vincent Ryan of Shrewsbury MA, Allison Blodgett of Worcester MA, and Christopher Blodgett and Trish Rich Blodgett of Calhoun, GA.

She was predeceased by her hero/husband, William S Blodgett of Salem NH, and her siblings Richard Marsland of Lawrence MA, Ellen Caffrey of Tucson AZ, and Carole Bower of Salem NH.

Per her request, there will be no services.  Grab a donut and a coffee with a friend instead. Scritch some kitty ears. Put out some fluff for the birds to make a soft nest. Call your representatives in Congress.  Donate your time to making the world a little bit better in your own way.
