Paul C. Courtemanche, 80, of Methuen, MA passed away on April 28 ^th at Holy Family Hospital.

He grew up in Methuen, the son of the late Jeannette (Auclair) and Robert Courtemanche. He was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1958. During his time at Central, he was a three sport athlete leading the basketball team to win the 1957 State Championship, and then to an overtime loss to Weaver HS, in the finals at the New England High School Championship.  He was inducted to the Central Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994. He and his friends were often in attendance at Central Catholic football, baseball and basketball games. Paul served his country in the US Marine Corps. Paul retired from the Essex County Sheriff's Department where he was a prison guard and systems administrator for 27 years. Following his retirement, he joined the staff at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home.  He was an avid golfer. Paul enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

Paul will be sadly missed by his three children, Robert Courtemanche and wife Denise, Diane Herdegen and husband Shaun, and Paul Courtemanche; his siblings, Robert Courtemanche and wife Anne, Camille Roberge, and Daniel Courtemanche; his 5 grandchildren; Ellen, Lauren, Joseph, Shannon and Erin; his former spouse, Nancy Trainor and several nieces and nephews.

Paul's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 18th at 11:00 AM at St. Monica's Parish, 212 Lawrence St. Metheun, MA. Burial of the urn will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
