Paul R. Lapierre, 87, of Haverhill, MA and formerly of Hampstead, NH passed away after a brief illness on Friday, February 2nd at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.

Paul was born on May 4, 1936 in Goffstown, NH to Alfred and Germaine (St. Pierre) LaPierre.  He grew up in Manchester NH and went on to become a baker after attending college in Minneapolis MN. He then served in the army where he was stationed in Alaska.  Afterward he continued his education in San Francisco CA where he earned a degree in electrical engineering.

Professionally Paul had a very successful career at Raytheon in Andover MA for 32 years, many as the Manager of the Failure Analysis Lab. He worked very hard during his tenure. He was innovative and forward thinking and made many positive contributions to his department and the company for which he received various awards and citations.

Paul's greatest love in life was his family to whom he generously dedicated his time and energy.  He was a great teacher and guide who, while leading by example, encouraged continuous learning and growth. He was very proud seeing each of his kids and grandkids graduate from college and go on to successful careers. In his later years, his pride and joy was his great-granddaughter Billie Rose who affectionately called him "Papa".

Paul had a great zest for life. His primary passions revolved around delicious food, a bountiful garden and world travel.  Known as a 'foodie' he was an exceptional cook who enjoyed sharing a great meal with family and friends. He also had quite a green thumb. He grew his own vegetables and adorned his yard with a bountiful array of colorful flowers. He kept the nicest lawn in the neighborhood. He loved to experience new things and traveled the world sightseeing and taking in the local culture and cuisine.

Married for 48 years, Paul is predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Harrington).  He is survived by his three children, Kevin LaPierre of Merrimack NH, Pauline LaPierre of Haverhill MA, and David LaPierre of North Berwick ME, his grandchildren Laura LaPierre, Finn LaPierre and Sophia LaPierre and his great-granddaughter Billie Rose Blundell.  He also leaves his sister Cecile Cote of Chelmsford MA and brother Dan LaPierre of Nashua NH, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, February 9th 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's name may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation Eastern Pennsylvania on line at www.efepa.org or by check made out to EFEPA and mailed to: EFEPA, 919 Walnut St, Ste 700, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
