Peter Moy, of Atkinson, NH a distinguished engineer, inventor, author, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on July 23rd at his home. He was 83 years old.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Peter immigrated to the United States in 1962 in pursuit of new opportunities. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island (URI) and later completed his Master’s degree at Northeastern University. Throughout his career, Peter demonstrated exceptional innovation and leadership in the field of engineering. He held a U.S. patent, authored a book on surface mount technology, and was recognized in Who’s Who in Engineering.
Peter’s professional journey included key roles at Western Electric and Digital Equipment Corporation. He concluded his career as an Engineering Manager at Advanced Electronics, Inc.
In his personal life, Peter found great joy in photography, cooking, skiing, and traveling the world with his family and friends. He met his beloved wife, Helen, at a party in 1969 and they married in 1971. Their partnership, built on love, mutual respect, and shared adventures, spanned more than five decades.
Peter was a devoted animal lover who cherished numerous family pets including dogs, Baeley and Braeden, and horse Mozart, affectionately known as Momo. His warmth, curiosity, and zest for life touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Moy; his daughter, Johanna Moy; his sister, Sanne Gong; and several nieces and nephews and their children. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he enriched through his intellect, kindness, and adventurous spirit.
Funeral services are private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, The American Parkinson Disease Association, or Parkinson’s Foundation.
