Ralph Mattia, 79, of Salem, NH passed away on Sunday, March 29th at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Queens, New York and raised in Carle Place, New York, Ralph graduated from Carle Place High School before earning his bachelor's degree from New York Institute of Technology. He built a successful career as an insurance adjuster and enjoyed a full life marked by his passions and the love of his family.
Ralph, once a promising pitching prospect for the New York Yankees, carried his love of baseball throughout his life. He was an avid golfer who participated in numerous golf leagues, finding great joy and camaraderie on the course. Among his many passions, Ralph was a dedicated car enthusiast who especially loved fixing and driving his Corvettes, a pursuit that brought him years of enjoyment and excitement.
Ralph will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 37 years, Cynthia (Lutey) Mattia; his 3 daughters, Cheryl Hacker and husband Michael of Rexford, NY, Renee Long of Salem, MA and Jessica O'Leary and husband John of Salem, NH; his brother-in-law, Wesley Lutey, his sister-in-law, Rosemary Mattia; his 4 grandsons, Nicholas and Christopher Long and Ryan and Alexander Hacker; many beloved nieces, nephews, close friends, and his beloved dog, Madison Joy.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jenarose and Ralph Mattia, his siblings, Joseph Mattia and Camille Rutkowski and her husband John Rutkowski, and his sister-in-law, Linda Lutey.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 3rd from 10:00 AM- 12:00PM followed by a funeral service at 12:00PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
