Obituary

Rhea A. (Forsyth) Richards, 97, of Salem, NH died peacefully Friday, November 9 th at the Salemhaven Nursing Home.

Rhea was born and grew up in North Braddock, Pa, the daughter of the late Othelia (Koerth) and John Forsyth. She graduated from Scott High School, where she met her future husband Jack Richards. Rhea was a homemaker and she was the local school crossing guard for a number of years. As she raised her family of three children, she became adept at the baking of wedding cakes, quilting, tailoring, and was the recipient of many awards at the local county fairs for her baking and needle work. Upon relocating to Salem, NH, after the passing of her husband, Rhea became active in crocheting prayer shawls for the Saints Mary and Joseph parish in Salem, NH.

Rhea is survived by her children, William Richards and wife Linda of Salem, NH, Marlyn Sprowls of Seminole, FL and John D Richards of McKeesport, Pa; her 5 grandchildren; her 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Richards, sister Alberta Poulas, brother John D. Forsyth and son-in -law James Sprowls.

Our family would like to commend the nursing staff at Salemhaven for their compassionate care and love that they provided to our mother during her residence there.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm followed by a funeral service at 6:30 pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.

Memorial contributions in Rhea's name may be made to: Salemhaven Arts and Crafts group, 23 Geremonty Drive; Salem, NH 03079 or the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6 Waltham, MA 02451.

Funeral services will continue at 9:30am on Saturday, August 17, 2019 in the Fishing Creek United Methodist Church, 1003 West Branch Fishing Creek Road, Roulette, PA 16746.  Burial will follow in the Card Creek Cemetery.
