Retired Lieutenant Richard E. Dunn, 77, of Salem, NH died suddenly Tuesday, August 8 ^th at his home.

Dick was born and educated in Haverhill, MA, the son of the late Margaret (Barron) and Walter Dunn. He graduated from Haverhill Trade School. Dick worked for the Salem Police Department for 33 years, retiring as a Detective Lieutenant and he was in charge of the detective division. He enjoyed car racing, hockey and spending time with his friends.

Dick will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 54 years, Betty (Altott) Dunn of Salem; his children, Khristine Collins and husband Bryce of Manchester, NH, Kelly Spaulding of Sarasota, FL and Shawn Dunn and wife Kaitlyn of Salem, NH; his sister, Linda Marshall of Rowley, MA; his grandchildren, Alexandra and Victoria Collins and Jack Spaulding and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Barbera.

Visitation will be Friday, August 11 ^th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 40 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
