Richard E. "Red" Tiner passed peacefully at High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA on 10/12/2020. Richard was born in Somerville, MA on March 12, 1933 to Edward W. and Ann (Sherry) Tiner. He married the love of his life Carolyn Letizio in 1955 and shared 65 years with her until her death in 2017. Richard lived his life with joy and tremendous love for his family. His love for his wife Carol was unmatched. Together they spent many vacation years in Florida where they enjoyed friends, family and traveling. Our dad was an avid sports fan and a tireless advocate for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never missed a sporting event, dance recital, art or music event. He was a remarkable fan of his family and was a proud Salem High booster club member.

In his younger years, Richard graduated from Central Catholic High School where he played and starred as a baseball pitcher. He went on to play a year of minor league baseball for the Cocoa Beach Indians. Richard was a proud Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was stationed in Germany for two years and served as a platoon leader of the heavy arms division. While enlisted, he toured Germany as a pitcher with his US Army baseball team, the "Troopers." Richard was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and Salem, NH Little League. He was a coach for many years and also served as league president for a period of time.

Richard was employed by Continental Baking Company as a route salesman for Wonder Bread & Hostess Cakes for 30 years. After retiring from sales, he worked for his son Michael for over 20 years at Andover Corporation. At Andover Corp., Richard lead by example and was a great mentor to the younger employees. Always quick with a smile or joke, he was truly loved by all of his co-workers at Andover Corporation.

Most of all, our dad was just a good man with a great work ethic and a kind heart. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and was loved by so many. He cherished his family and friends and set a great example on how to treat and respect others. He would love to say, "Treat people as you would like to be treated!" He was a man of his word and he really taught us all how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Upbeat and positive in any situation, his beautiful spirit was his gift to us all.

Richard is survived by his sons Wade and his wife Kathryn Tiner of Hampstead NH, Michael and his wife Elizabeth Tiner of Atkinson NH, Kevin and his wife Monica Tiner of Hampstead NH, Daughter Sharon (Tiner) Graziani and her husband Vincent of Portsmouth NH, Grandchildren: Jason and partner Jamie, Eric, Andrew and wife Jaclyn, Erika and husband James, Lauren, Arielle and partner Michael, Nicolette and Fiancé Daniel, Daniel and partner Jacqueline, Jillian, Sarah and husband Charles, Melissa and husband Matthew, Mark and fiancée Tammy Great grandchildren: Brooke, Raegan, Eva, Sam, Kendall, Weston, and Josephine. He will be sadly missed by his companion Ann and several nieces and nephews.
