Richard P. Gagnon of Salem NH, fought a year long battle with leukemia.

He died in Lucy's arms, his wife of 48 ½ yrs on April 24 ^th .

Richard was born in Lawrence, MA in November 1949 to parents Rita ( LaPointe) Gagnon and the late Rosaire Gagnon . He attended St Theresa's elementary school, the Marist seminary in Bedford, MA and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1967. Rick married Lucy in the summer of '69. They started their life together in Methuen, MA and in 1976 settled in Salem NH where they resided for 42 years. He worked for various companies including Polaroid Corp, Converse Rubber, Peerless Finberg and Andover Medical. Rick bought Logan Trucking Company from his Uncle Russel Gagnon and ran the trucking and rigging company through the eighties. After selling the company, he joined IUOE local 4 as a crane operator. He also attended University of Lowell receiving a certificate in wastewater treatment which enabled him to work at various wastewater sites for IUOE.

Once retired Rick spent his time writing poetry, woodworking in his workshop, reading, and most importantly cherishing his relationships. He and Lucy were able to travel in their RV to Quebec, Isles d' Orleans and Montreal in Canada. They also enjoyed traveling along the east coast visiting DC, Williamsburg, VA., Ashville and Charleston NC, Savannah and Atlanta GA, St Augustine, Smyrna Beach, Tampa and Orlando, Fl.

Along with his wife Lucy, his loved ones include his Mom Rita of Lawrence, MA, his sisters Claire Forsythe and her husband Bob of Riverside, CA, Carole St Louis and her husband Henry of Salem NH, his brothers Gerard Gagnon and his wife Claire of Fremont NH, Norman Gagnon and his wife Ruth of Sandown NH, Stephen Gagnon and his wife Tina of Salem NH, his sisters in law Dorothy Pimental and her husband Arthur, Catherine Brubeck Yaghsizian, Uncles, Aunts and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rick was a gentle man, who cared for people making friends everywhere and anywhere, including the nurses and doctors who treated him at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and Londonderry and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was grateful for their wonderful care and getting to know so many lovely people.

Family and friends will be celebrating Richard's life on Sat May 19 ^th anytime between 1-4 PM at Salvatore's Function Facility, 354 Merrimack St, Lawrence, MA(to the right of Salvatore's Restaurant).
