Richard Philip Hamel, 82, of Salem, NH passed away at Lawrence General Hospital on Friday, May 12th.

He was born and educated in Methuen, MA the son of the late Jeannette (Beaulieu) and Philip Hamel. Dick served his country in the US Air Force. Dick was blessed to meet the love of his love when he returned home from the service. Dick and Andrea were best friends and had a very close and special relationship for their 56 years of marriage.

He worked as a foreman for Amtrak. After his retirement, Dick worked for Sanel Auto Parts.

Dick enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church, a member of the American Legion for many years and a proud member of the NRA.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Andrea (Choquette) Hamel of Salem, NH; his two children, Richard P. Hamel, Jr. and wife Diana of Southborough, MA and Dawn Norma McGuire and husband Joshua of Salem, NH; his four beloved granddaughters, Evangeline, Emily, Bailey and Charlotte; his sisters, Gloria Hamel of Plaistow, NH and Suzanne Hamel of Lunenburg, MA; his sister-in-law, Janet Hamel of Methuen, MA; his brother-in-law, John Waterworth of Dracut, MA, his sister-in-law Paulette Redmond and her husband Ed, and many nieces and nephews. Dick also leaves his best friend, Norman Beaulieu. He was predeceased by his brothers Gerry Hamel and Leo Hamel, and his sister, Claire Waterworth.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 17 ^th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
