Richard H. Johnson, 81 of Plaistow, NH passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in the Fairview Nursing Home, Hudson, NH. He was born in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Charles A. and Hilda (Ingle) Johnson, Sr.

Mr. Johnson returned to the area from Eliot, ME when he was 5 years old and attended Pollard School in Plaistow, NH and later graduated from Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, NH in 1956. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1956-1958. Upon discharge he worked for Raytheon in Shawsheen, MA and then served as a store manager for the State of NH Liquor Store from 1963 until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Haverhill where he served in the vestry, was a lay reader and Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Gideon Masonic Lodge#84 F. & A.M. in Kingston, NH where he had served as Master from 1991-1992.

He is survived by two brothers; Charles A. Johnson, Jr. of Sanford, ME and Robert H. Johnson of Elmira, NY. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his brother; Frederick J. Johnson and by his sister Judy Simes.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 9:00am to 11:00am in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A funeral service will follow Saturday in the funeral home at 11:00am. Interment with military honors will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem.
