Richard J. Marotte, 90, of Salem, NH passed away on Thursday, July 6th at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA after a brief illness.
He was born and educated in Lawrence, the son of the late Melina (Normand) and Philip Marotte. Richard served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He began his career as a truck body mechanic for Greer Trailer Sales later working in maintenance at Raytheon until his retirement. Richard was an active member of Mary Queen of Peace Church where he was a consoler. He was a Eucharistic minister for Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, tending to his vegetable garden and having a good glass of Merlot with his family.
Richard will be deeply missed by his three children, Diane Dore of Sandown, NH, David Marotte and wife Julie of Windham, NH and Donald Marotte and wife Carolann Chory of Salem, NH; his sister, Evelyn Marotte and partner Sam Perrone of Lawrence, MA; his two granddaughters, Jessica Manning and husband Matthew and Ashley Marotte and fiancé Matthew Schiavone; his two great grandchildren, Jade and Faith Manning and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lorraine (Gallant) Marotte and by 6 brothers and a sister.
The family would like to thank Salem, NH First Responders, Lawrence General Hospital and High Pointe Hospice House for their kindness and professionalism.
There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 11th at 10:00AM at Mary Queen of Peace, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem. Please arrive at church by 9:45 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard's name may be made to assist Mary Queen of Peace Church with their capital campaign. Please may checks payable to Sts. Mary and Joseph Parish and write capital campaign R. Marotte on the memo line and send to Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem, NH 03079.
