Robert J. Barlow, 69, a longtime resident of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday September 30, 2017 in the Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth, NH. He was born in Providence, RI, a son of the late Walter and Katherine M. (Kane) Barlow.
Robert grew up in Warwick Rhode Island and enjoyed spending time in Scarborough with his brothers and family. He attended Pilgrim High School in Warwick and graduated from the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Barlow proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He was married to his loving wife, Cindy, for 39 years and together they raised triplet children. Robert was a hard worker, good provider and dedicated family man who always put his family first. For 25 years, he worked as a retail store manager at Walgreens where he also earned his pharmaceutical certificate. After his recent retirement, he held a part-time job at Target.
Robert enjoyed traveling, keeping up with current events, loved a good cup of coffee and was an avid NY Giants football fan. He loved the time he spent at home with his family, especially his buddy, his father-in-law, Oliver. He will be remembered for his selflessness, kindness and jovial spirit.
He is survived by his wife; Cynthia G. (Pottle) Barlow of Salem, his children; Megan Barlow of Columbia, SC, Hilary Barlow of Charlestown, MA and her fiancé Andrew Schanck and Kyle Barlow of Derry, NH and his fiancé Elizabeth Hiltz as well as and by two brothers; his twin; Walter Barlow and younger brother; Edward Barlow, both of Warwick, RI.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the National Stroke Association, 9707 East Easter Lane, Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112.
