Robert J. Batchelder Jr., 19, of Manchester, NH, passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2026 due to a swimming accident.
Born and raised in Manchester, Robert was a proud graduate of Manchester West High School. During his years there, he formed lifelong friendships and met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart and devoted girlfriend, with whom he shared countless cherished memories.
Robert had a passion for fitness and enjoyed spending time at the gym, always striving to better himself. Music was a constant part of his life and brought him comfort and joy. Above all else, Robert treasured the time he spent with those he loved. Whether he was sharing laughs with friends, making memories with family, or simply enjoying quiet moments with his girlfriend, his caring heart and loyal spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Though his life was far too short, Robert will be remembered for his kind heart, warm smile, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving parents, Betsy and Robert Batchelder; his maternal grandparents, Phoebe and Valentine Miller; his paternal grandmother, Mary Batchelder; his siblings, Isabelle, Christine, Phoebe Jane, Jack and Lucky; his beloved girlfriend, and many relatives and friends who will miss him deeply.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Robert’s life during visiting hours at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH on Sunday, July 19th from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM and Monday, July 20th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 21st at 10:30 am in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
