Robert V. Burke, 72, Irish born, a long time resident of Salem, NH passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He was born Killorglin, Ireland, a son of the late John and Eileen (Regan) Burke.
He was an avid Boston sports fan, but his favorite athletes were his grandchildren. He took great pride in his family and community. He was a former D.A.V. State Commander.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years; Maureen (Sieger) Burke of Salem, as well as his three sons, Sean J. Burke and his wife Gloria of Barrington, NH, Robert V. Burke Jr. and his wife Thuy of Derry, NH, and Brian P. Burke and his wife Debi who are also from Derry. He is survived by his daughter Erin Marie Sullivan and her husband Jason of Hudson, NH. He also is survived by his brother; John Burke and his wife Ellie of Berlin, NH along with his sister; Peggy Flynn and her husband James of Londonderry, NH. He was an amazing father and grandfather to all of his children and grandchildren Felix, Sophia, Grady, Claire, Brian Jr, Teagan and Henry, as well as a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas and James Burke as well as his sister Mary Ellen Burke.
Visiting hours will be held Friday May 17, 2019 from 4-8pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday May 18, 2019 at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH. Cremation will follow. Interment will be held in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the DAV – Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
