Robert L. Elliott, 85, of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday, July 11 th at St. Elizabeth's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born and educated in Boston, MA, the son of the late Rose (Coughlin) and Amos Elliott. Robert graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School, Class of 1953. He was a long time parishioner of Mary Queen of Peace Church, where he sang in the choir for many years.
Robert will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Yvette (Lavigne) Elliott of Salem, NH; his seven children, Linda Martin and husband David of Hudson, NH, Robert Elliott of Salem, NH, Susan Fenderson and husband Blane of Jefferson, ME, William Elliott of Salem, NH, John Elliott and wife Shaun of Litchfield, NH, Brian Elliott and wife Kathy of Salem, NH and Kevin Elliott and wife Adrienne of Derry, NH; his sister, Rosemary Ahmed of Virginia and many nieces and nephews. He was the proud Papa of 15 grandchildren and their families, including 5 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Walter A. Elliott and his granddaughter, Laura Kathryn Foley.
Bob loved traveling throughout the country with family and friends; on summer camping trips, vacations to the family lake house in Maine, DC, Hawaii, and a memorable RV trip through the west. He was an avid reader and has instilled this love in his children and grandchildren. His lifelong love of music inspired his participation in several choral groups. He performed and soloed with the Franco American Male Chorale in Lowell. Family and friends frequently requested him as a vocalist for their weddings, funerals and other special events. Watching his children and grandchildren sing and perform brought a familiar twinkle to his eyes.
Bob's spirit of family and community allowed him to belong to many local clubs and organizations. He was a Cub Scout leader with Pack 160, Salem, NH. Raising five sons brought him to the natural role of assistant coach for several Little League teams. He and his wife, Yvette, were avid fans and boosters with the Salem Rams Organization, one local paper naming him 'The Voice of the Rams', due to his being the play-by-play announcer each Sunday for home games. He continued to follow and support Salem athletes, carpooling a few to their Boston dorms, on his way to work. He was a lifetime member and former officer of Lawrence Elks Lodge BPOE 65.
Services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Laura Kathryn Foley Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o The Family of Robert Elliott, 33 Carol Ave., Salem, NH 03079.
