Robert Davis Mackay, 93, of Salem, NH passed away on Wednesday, October 26 ^th at Aspen Hill Healthcare, surrounded by his loving family.

He grew up in Methuen, the son of the late Dorris (Davis) and Dr. Arthur T. Mackay. Bob attended Methuen High School then transferred to Hebron Academy in Maine where he graduated. He served in the United States Air Force in the early 1950's as an engine mechanic. He was a mechanical engineer and worked at Raytheon where he met his wife Carol. Later in his career he worked for AT&T Technologies. While at AT&T, Bob invented a solder-bearing lead and a method of assembling the lead and received two United States patents for these inventions. Bob enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing hockey, singing, and going to the beach. He took trips to Nova Scotia, Hawaii and Antigua, but his favorite vacations were to Maine with Carol. Bob's passion was sailing. He built his first sailboat in his late teens. Later, he built 2 ice boats. He was a member of the Atkinson Congregational Church and the Canobie Lake Association.

Bob will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol (Ackroyd) Mackay of Salem, NH; his daughter Karen Mackay and husband Ronald Hannon of Pelham, NH; his 2 grandsons, Brandon and Jared Hannon and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Barbara Crouch and John "Bud" Mackay.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov 2 ^nd from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 3 ^rd at 10:00 AM at Atkinson Congregational Church, 101 Main St., Atkinson, NH. (Please arrive at the church by 9:45 AM)  Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, No. Andover, MA. The family requests that masks are worn for the visitation and the funeral service.
