Obituary

Roger W. Jaycox, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on October 29, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Roger grew up in Pomfret, VT, and graduated from Woodstock High School, where he participated in multiple sports. Following high school, he attended technical school and pursued a career as a laboratory technician. Roger lived in Peabody, MA for 58 years before moving to Salem to be closer to family. Roger worked for Beverly Hospital for 25 years and also worked as a researcher at Baxter Laboratory and Research.

He was a former member of the Wakefield Elks.

Roger enjoyed life and all the simple pleasures it had to offer. He loved skiing, golfing, and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. A social person by nature, he enjoyed the company of others, a nice glass of wine, and, of course, a good meal of Chinese food. He also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia and coins, hobbies that reflected his many interests.

Some of Roger's favorite memories were made on trips to Foxwoods with his beloved wife, Cindy. Lady Luck always seemed to be on his side, and he was known for winning and walking away with his winnings. His outgoing personality, love of people, and enjoyment of life's little pleasures made him a wonderful companion to those around him.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Cindy Jaycox of Salem; his children Roger Jaycox Jr. and wife Cathy of Danville, NH and Patricia Kim Maker, and husband, Ronald, of Salem, NH; his sister, Cheryl Rogers, of FL; his grandchildren, Patricia Boles, Ronald Maker, James Maker and wife, Andraya Bertolino and Sarah Jaycox; his great-granddaughter, Lily Boles and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Jaycox and his sister, Marilyn Spalding.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 5th from 10:00 – 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH.

Memorial contributions in Roger's name may be made to the National MS Society, PO Box 54879, Los Angeles, CA 90054.

Roger will be remembered for his love of family, his friendly and outgoing nature, and his ability to enjoy life to the fullest. He leaves behind many cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
