Roland C. Wermers, 92, a lifelong resident of Methuen, MA passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill, MA.  He was born in Methuen, a son of the late Joseph and Eva (Mueller) Wermers.

Roland grew up and was educated in Methuen.  He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He attended and earned his bachelor's degree from Bentley College in Waltham, MA.  Roland worked for many years as a CPA for Plaza, Dixon & Rust in Lowell, MA.  In his younger years he enjoyed fly fishing and ice skating and was an accomplished golfer.  Roland was a member of the John Hancock Masonic Lodge in Methuen, the Rotary Club of Methuen, was on the Board of Goodwill Industries in Lowell and he was involved in helping with the Special Olympics.

He is survived by his two sons, Eric Wermers and his wife Atty. Darlene Daniele of Salem, Ronald Wermers of Salem; his daughter, Caroline Wermers of Boston, MA;  his two grandchildren, Joseph and Alaina; his brother, Ralph Wermers of Englewood, FL and by his sister, Louise Duchane of Salem.  He was predeceased by his wife, Caroline Wermers, his siblings and their spouses, Irving Wermers and his wife Sheila, Arthur Wermers and his wife Natalie and his brother in law, Paul Duchane.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA.  Memorial contributions in Roland's name may be sent to Homeland Heroes, 10 Delaware Dr. Suite 1 Salem, NH 03079.
