Rose "Sue"
Nolan
d. May 9, 2024
Rose (Longo) Nolan, age 86, of Salem NH, passed away on Thursday, May 9, at Nevins Nursing Home. Born in Medford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Athos and Mary (Ferrucci) Longo. Rose graduated from Medford High School (MHS '55) and Bunker Hill Community College with a degree in Business.
Rose dedicated many years of her life to a career at New England Telephone, where she worked as an operator and made lifelong friends. It was there that she met her late husband, Francis Nolan, Jr. They built a life, family, and called Medford their home. They were married for 38 years.
Affectionately known as 'Sue', Rose had a passion for reading, immersing herself in the pages of WWII history and mystery novels. She found joy in traveling, listening to classical music, and indulging her sweet tooth with cream-filled pastries. Rose also enjoyed simple pleasures, including watching her favorite PBS series and bus trips to the casino. (Yes, mom, we knew all along.)
Rose was mother to Joanne Nolan of Medford; Michael Nolan of Sanbornton, NH; and mother-in-law to the late Jo-Ann Nolan. Sister to Marie and the late Athos Longo, Caro Longo, Judy Sinclair, and Robert Longo. She was the doting grandmother of Ryan Nolan (Jen), Colleen Thurston (Jon), Katherine Brown (Ryan), four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and godchildren.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 17, at 10:00 a.m. ET at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, MA. Please arrive by 9:45 a.m. ET. The urn burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. Arrangements are entrusted to Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, Salem, NH.
