Ruth A. Lange, 88, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, MA passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA. She was born in Lawrence, the daughter of the late William and Martha M. (Bayreuther) Lange.

Miss Lange graduated from John R. Rollins school in 1943, Lawrence High School, Class of 1947, earned her Bachelor's degree in education, class of 1951 and earned her Master's in education from Boston University, Class of 1960. She taught for the Town of Wilton, NH High School from 1951 to 1959 and also coached basketball for the school. Miss Lange also taught for the Town of Methuen, MA High School from 1959 to 1979 and served as high school administrator from 1979 to 1989.

Miss Lange was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of the Merrimack Valley, Delta Pi Epsilon (Boston University Business Education Fraternity), the Methuen Schools Retired Personnel Association, the Retired Educators Association Massachusetts Essex County and the Prospect Hill Back Bay Neighborhood Association. She also belonged to the Lawrence High School Alumni Association, Friends of Lawrence Heritage State Park and she was avid Red Sox fan.

She is survived by several cousins and many dear friends.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am Friday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, 170 May St., Lawrence, MA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Christian Fellowship Church of the Merrimack Valley, P.O. Box 2181, Methuen, MA 01844.
