Sister Janice (formerly Sister Pierre) Loiselle, a Sister of Mercy for 64 years, passed away on August 13, 2026 at Warde Senior Living in Windham, New Hampshire. A native of Goffstown, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late John and Solange “Sally” (Comeau) Loiselle.

Prior to her entrance into the Sisters of Mercy, Sister Janice was employed as the secretary to the president of St. Anselm College, Manchester New Hampshire.

Sister Janice held degrees in business education: a B.A. from Mount St. Mary College in Hooksett, New Hampshire and a M.Ed. from Boston University. She graduated as a nurse from Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, Massachusetts.

Sister Janice’s early ministry as a Sister of Mercy was in teaching secretarial courses at the former Castle Junior College in Windham, New Hampshire. Following years as an instructor at Castle College, Sister Janice held positions within the Sisters of Mercy in Windham, New Hampshire. She served as director of activities of the Frances Warde Center, as the NH Mercy Finance Officer, then treasurer of the local Community. From 1987 through 1996 Sister Janice was the comptroller of Marian Court College, Swampscott, Massachusetts. She also served on the Board of Trustees of Catholic Medical Center and the Reconciliation Board of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.

In 1996, Sister Janice pursued a ministry in health care. She worked as a registered medical/surgical nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and as an Assistant Director of Nursing at Warde Senior Living. Upon retirement, Sister Janice volunteered as a child caregiver at the Manchester Immigration Project and as an Advocate/Preceptor with the NH Long-Term Ombudsman Program.

Sister Janice was recognized for going the extra mile in her ministries. On accepting Sister Janice’s resignation from eight years as Comptroller at Marian Court College, the president wrote that Sister Janice: “directed the Business Office with competence, and compassion.” The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Medical Center wrote: “The knowledge and expertise that you brought to the board has been most helpful in making many of the decisions that have been made over the years.”

Sister Janice, along with her faithful friend, Sister Janice Turner, now deceased, volunteered for years at the Boston Marathon.

In her 64 years of life as a Sister of Mercy, Sister Janice brought her prayer life, compassion, gentleness, and generosity into her ministries in education, business, nursing, and volunteering.

Sister Janice is survived by her beloved family: her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Loiselle and Jocelyn Loiselle of Manchester, nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, and members of her Mercy Community. Sister Janice was predeceased by her brothers John and Peter Loiselle.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 10-11 AM, at the Warde Senior Living, 21 Searles Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM, in the Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, New Hampshire.
