Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Stanley C. Evans, 73, of Union, NH and
formerly of Atkinson, NH, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a valiant battle with
cancer. From the time of his birth on March 2, 1945 until his death on October 16, 2018, Stan, with
his genteel yet mischievous spirit, shared his gifts of deep love, unrelenting humor, and abiding faith
with family and friends.

Stan was born and educated in Gorham, NH, the middle child of the late Olive M. (Goodno) and
Perley C. Evans. An athlete and a scholar, he played both basketball and baseball throughout high
school, graduating Salutatorian in 1963. He went on to attend the University of New Hampshire,
where he met the woman who would become his wife of 51 years, Marsha. Serial debater that he
was, Stan was drawn to courses in political science, and ultimately spent the summer between
sophomore and junior year as an intern in Washington, DC. He also served as President of ACACIA
Fraternity his senior year. Stan graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor's Degree in History.

Despite his love of government and politics - an independent libertarian to the core - practicality
pushed Stan into the world of banking. During a career which spanned more than two decades, Stan
fulfilled several aspects of the banking industry. At the First National Bank of Boston, he pursued
all facets of retail banking. With the Bay State National Bank in Lawrence, he expanded his career
as a Vice President of Commercial Real Estate and Loans. Then, working for Chase Manhattan of
NY, Stan traveled extensively, creating new businesses alongside his clients. Stan's final years of
banking were with the Bank of New Hampshire in Manchester and Nashua where, as a Vice
President, he again focused on Commercial Real Estate and Loans. Later, Stan would enter the
realm of small business ownership, operating the Market in the Pines in Tamworth, NH from
1995-2000. His career then evolved to Business Brokerage in 2001 with New Hampshire Business
Sales. Stan earned his Certified Business Intermediary certification in 2008 after earning Broker of
the Year honors in 2003, 2006, and 2007.

Stan and Marsha raised Michael, Melissa and Christopher in Atkinson, during which time Stan was
an active member of the Atkinson Congregational Church, serving for 14 years as their treasurer, as
well as sharing his melodious tenor in the choir. He was a charter member of the Atkinson Lions
Club, serving a term as treasurer. He also contributed his time as a Little League baseball coach for
several years. Stan was a voracious reader and a talented woodworker with a keen eye for detail.
He thoroughly enjoyed cross-country skiing, and visiting national parks and monuments throughout
the Southwest, but particularly in Colorado.

Left to remember Stan and celebrate his life are his wife and best friend, Marsha (Medwid) Evans of Union, NH; their children Michael Evans and wife, Krista of Lakewood, CO, Melissa (Evans) Oliver and husband, Peter of Scarborough, ME, and Stanton Christopher Evans of Manchester, NH; his grandchildren Matthew D. and Reagan P. Oliver and Lilliana L. and Brady M. Evans; his brother, Loren Evans and wife, Jo-Anne Evans of North Fort Myers, FL and sister, Susan (Evans) Ellis and husband, Arthur Ellis of Chichester, NH as well as six nephews and nieces.

Calling hours will be Thursday, October 25th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. The Funeral Service will be Friday, October 26th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

The family expresses genuine appreciation to the dedicated and caring medical team of the Payson Cancer Center, especially Nurse Navigator Annie Siff, as well as the nurses of Cornerstone VNA and Hospice, who guided and gave comfort to Stan and the family as he progressed on his final journey.
