Thomas James Dye, 64, of Salem, NH died peacefully on December 18, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer. Tom was the son of Thomas and Patricia Dye, born and raised in Andover, MA.

Tom graduated from Andover High School in 1972 and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In 1982, Tom married Robin, the love of his life, and shortly after they moved to Salem to raise their family. His children Kathryn (Katy) and Thomas (TJ) were his greatest pride. He devoted his time supporting their activities from scorekeeping baseball games, scouting, cheering at Pop Warner football games and driving up and down the east coast to softball tournaments.

Later in life, he would work at R&J Getty in Salem putting his people skills to good use: sharing stories, newspaper clippings, and photos of his family with customers. Tom will most fondly be remembered for his brilliant smile, sharp wit, and outrageous wagers during family card games. "Grumpy" to his three grandsons, you could find Tom driving the street giving rides on his lawnmower and happily supplying treats like candy and ice cream to whomever asked first.

Tom will be sorely missed by his wife, Robin and two children, Katy and son-in-law Matt Parsons of Windham, NH, and TJ Dye of Salem, NH; his mother Patricia Dye of Venice FL; his three siblings Susan Jenkins of Burlington, MA, Margaret Cuneo of Andover, MA, and Charles Dye of Portsmouth, NH; his three grandsons Christopher, James and Robert Parsons; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 242 Boston Rd., Chelmsford, MA 01824 on December 28, 2018 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations can be made in Tom's memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
