Vernon Livingston Thomas, Sr., 89, of Salem, NH passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in the Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NH. He was born in Salem, NH, the son of the late Clyde Livingston and Jessie Ellen (Sleeper) Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was educated in Methuen, MA and Salem, NH. He worked as a field representative for Granite State Electric for 31 years. Following in his father's footsteps he also was an on-call firefighter for the Salem, NH fire department. He also did custodial work for Canobie Lake Park, Rockingham Race Track, the Kelley Library, 8 of the Salem Lake Schools and many other Town Departments.

Mr. Thomas was also known the "the harmonica man", having played harmonica since he was 6 years old. He enjoyed volunteering at Salemhaven Nursing Home and several area nursing homes playing the harmonica and entertaining the residents. He was a life member of the NRA, the Salem Historical Association as well as the North Reading, Raymond, Hartland, ME, St. Albans, ME Historical Societies. Mr. Thomas was also a member of the First NH Volunteer Calvary and Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, being a grandson of 3 Civil War Veterans, and was also a member of Gun Owners of NH.

He is survived by his children; Mark Thomas and his wife Donna of Maryland, Vernon L. Thomas, Jr. of Derry, NH, James J. Thomas of Derry, Bern C. Thomas and his wife Brenda of N. Sutton, NH, Dale K. Thomas and his wife Emeline of Derry and Janey Ellen Levesque and her husband Dennis of Hill, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Domenic, Travis, Devin, Marsha, Bern, Jr., Anita, Jasmine, Jennifer, Michael, Justin, Kristina and Dakota and by his great-grandchildren; Kaylie, Bern C. Thomas, III, Cheyenne, Kiley, Kenzie and Kennedy. He was predeceased by his sister; Constance St. Jean.

Following cremation, funeral services will be private for the family. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, N. Salem, NH.
