Walter N. Winer, 83, of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 in the Mary Immaculate Nursing Home, Lawrence, MA with his loving family by his side.  He was born in E. Boston, MA, a son of the late James and Erna (Bottleson) Winer.

Walter grew up in Everett.  He enlisted in the National Guard and served in multiple locations for 7 years.  Walter worked as a backhoe operator for the Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett for 40 years.  For many years he managed little league teams and coached youth hockey.  Walter was a communicant of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Windham, NH.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing and was a former member of the Pelham Fish & Game Club.

He is survived by his wife; Lucy (Frattaroli) Winer, his children; Wally Winer, Patty Leone and her husband Anthony, Bobby Winer and his wife Linda and John Winer, his grandchildren; John, Lucia and Vinny Leone and by his sister; Virginia Mancusa.  He was predeceased by his brothers James and Edward and by his sisters; Ann Annesse and Phyllis Boyd.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.  A funeral service will follow Thursday at 7:00pm in the Funeral Home with military honors to follow.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association, National Capital Area Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
