Warren F. "Jack" Manning, 83 of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 in the Salemhaven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Salem. He was born in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Peter J. Manning and Julienne (Rioux) Cormier.
Mr. Manning grew up and was educated in Lawrence. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and then from Lowell Tech. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Manning worked as a nuclear engineer for the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard for over 25 years. He was a member of the Lawrence B.P.O.E. Elks Club where he had served as its Chaplain for a point in time. He loved wood working and making Shaker pieces, taking his boys fishing, enjoyed Westerns, history and historical facts and had a great mind for names and dates.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Mary Ann (Trovato) Manning of Salem, three sons; Peter Manning and his wife Jamie of Portland, OR, Philip Manning and his wife Cindy of Salem and Paul Manning and his wife Krista Laorenza Manning of Salem and also by three grandchildren; Jamie LaSpina, Jared Manning and Joshua Manning. He was predeceased by his sister; Theresa Barbett.
Following cremation, visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 12:00pm in the funeral home with military honors to follow. Private interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Salemhaven resident activities fund, 23 Geremonty Drive, Salem, NH 03079.
