Obituary

Werner Josef Fehmel of Fremont, NH, passed away Friday October 11th at the All American Assisted Living in Londonderry, NH surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 30th 1945 in Oberwesel, Germany. He was raised by Ludwig and Christina Fehmel. Vern, as he was known, was the only son of Ludwig and Christina Fehmel, he was the younger brother to sisters, Beate, Helen, and Crystal. In 1963, Werner moved to the United States at the age of 18.

Shortly after moving, he met Frances Martin who would become his wife. Werner was drafted into the Army Reserves serving in both the artillery and motor pool units. Werner and Frances were married on July 1st 1967. Vern and Fran went on to have three children, Paul, Heidi and finally, Erik. They were happily married for 57 years. Werner worked as a mechanic for over 30 years for various companies; he also was a teamster. As a man of many talents, he later took the role of facilities manager for a production company, finally retiring to spend time in Florida with his wife.

Werner enjoyed striper fishing with his friends in Newburyport and  was always available to help friends with home projects or anything anyone needed. He also enjoyed spending Sunday morning visits with his family including his grandchildren, Matthew Fehmel, Ryan Fehmel, Nikolas Fehmel, Jonathan Ramsdell, Kayla Ramsdell, Zachary Ramsdell, Max Fehmel and Grace Fehmel. Finally to the family, a great granddaughter Evelyn Josephine Fehmel was born. He is also survived by his oldest sister Beate Tucarella and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 17th from 4:00-6:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, Salem, NH.
