Dr. Wilbur E. Blackey, 88, of Salem, NH passed away on July 29th at Greystone Farm in Salem, NH.

He grew up in Tamworth, NH the son of the late Flora and Edwin Blackey. Wil graduated from Kennett High School, Class of 1954, he attended UNH and he graduated from Tufts Dental School, Class of 1960 and specialized at the Harvard Forsyth Orthodontics Program. He proudly served his country in the US Army.

Dr. Blackey had an orthodontist practice for many years. Wil was a life member of the American Dental Association and a life member of the American Association of Orthodontists. He was a Master Gardener, involved with the Salem Historical Society and an active member of First Congregational Church where he was a Deacon and a Trustee. Wil enjoyed summering in Alton, NH, woodworking, carving, gardening and skiing.

Wil will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jane Blackey of Salem, NH; his children, Virginia and husband Frederick Hast, II of Bow, NH, Linda and husband Peter Riendeau of Canterbury, NH, and Jonathan Blackey and wife Donna of E. Hampstead, NH; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Blackey of Bow, NH; his 6 grandchildren, Nicholas and wife Zara, Katherine Riendeau, Trey and Hannah Hast, Joseph and Abigail Blackey and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Edwin Blackey Jr and Frank Blackey.

Visitation will be Friday, August 2nd from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
