Obituary

William A. Bohne, 87, of Salem, NH passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Gustave A. and Clara (Ditner) Bohne.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 3 rd Infantry Division where he received many commendations for bravery and marksmanship during the Korean Conflict. He also was selected to serve in the presidential honor guard for the inauguration of Dwight D. Eisenhower. After an honorable discharge as Master Sergeant, Bill continued his career graduating from Boston technical school as a machinist working for Process Engineering and AVCO. Bill was very proud of his involvement in the machining of the heat shield used in the successful launch and landing of Apollo 11. It was also at this time Bill would meet the love of his life, Frances, where they would spend 53 years of marriage raising their family of 3 boys. Family was always the most important thing. Bill and Frances built and ran The Green Barn restaurant, working tirelessly at their successful business. Bill would fondly reminisce how they loved every minute of it. Bill and Frances traveled the world but their special spot and most favorite was spending time at their camp at Rock Pond with family and friends.

He is survived by his sons; Gustave Bohne and his wife Terri, Carl Bohne and his wife Margaret, and Billy Bohne. He is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife; Frances A. (Maloof) Bohne in 2016.
